What? It is the 21st already.
So the weirdest thing is always happening here on the mission. Each month that goes by is like, what another month? Then, what it´s the 15th? And then it is ending already. I still feel like i got here yesterday but luckily i have learned a whole lot in the day that i have been here.
Well! Let´s talk about my week! I am actually emailing from Ilhéus today! You can look it up on the google earth or maps if you want. it is the closest city with missionaries to Itabuna. We road the bus over today for like 25 minutes to get here and have been having fun.
Funny stories of the week include; I went on a division this week. I went to Centro Itabuna and worked all day with another Elder and then stayed the night there until coming back to Fátima the next day. It was lots of fun. I always don´t want to go on divisions until i´m there and i remember that they are fun. To get to centro we were waiting for the bus as usual, but the little stop there in Fátima sucks. So after waiting for 20 minutes we went and grabbed moto taxis. haha Mom do you remember how Chris Vaughan´s mission transports by moto taxis? Well, they have them here in Brazil too. And the motos are crazy, weaving in and out of traffic. haha I slammed my feet down on the foot stop as hard as I could and held on to the handle as hard as I could and off we went. Elder M. was on the other motorcycle and at one point our motos split up because of traffic. Mine went off down some alleys to be faster. Elder M. was saying later when he saw me take the detor, and as he watched my white shirt go away, he thought,´What have i done? I´ve killed Elder kent!´ haha. It was crazy but we made it there all perfect and way faster than the bus. And my hands hurt for like 10 minutes after because i had held on so tight!
We had the bapism this week of Jaime Dórea Bispo. He is hilarious and awesome. We had been teaching him these weeks and he got baptized this last saturday. He asked me to baptize him so i got to! Always a blessing. Haha i have to say, the mission has ups and downs but i have never been so happy. The day of the baptism he didn´t show up to the church for a while and we couldn´t call his cell phone! Then out of no where he showed up. He had been playing basketball, saw that he was last and then ran to the church! Haha he´s awesome. The part that makes me laugh most is he uses a lot of slang in portuguese. So i´m learning how the 25 rapazes talk. haha
So last cool thing. We were teaching this crench. A crench is a major ´believer´. They are the kind of people that bible bash the Mormons without us even saying anything. Haha. Well one day this last week he was talking with us for ever and ever it seemed. We finally left and i gave him a pamphlet about the gospel of Jesus Christ. He had mentioned the ´gospel´ but no one actually knows what it is! Then a few days later we were passing by and he saw us and called us over. He said that he read the pamphlet and that it was all true. He said he had great respect for us now because what we teach is true according to the bible. Pretty cool.
We have been working outrageously hard. Each week if you can reach certain mission goals you get the Pattern of Excellence Award. You have to baptize and teach so many lessons etc.. Well last week and the week before we worked super hard all week to get Pattern and both weeks we failed because not enough investigators came to church! So we´ll keep working. But i am tired demais. Vaca Sagrada! But you gotta love Brazil.
