From
Poções the first major city we passed was Vitória Da Conquista and it was
raining so hard in Conquista that the roads were like rivers. It has been
flooding there. I think that the whole Bahia has been having rain. But anyways
i arrived in Eunápolis about 7 o´clock at night and got picked up by the Branch
President. Hah he is nuts but super funny. I am so excited to be here in
Eunápolis.
My
new companion is named elder Valença and is super cool. He is gaucho, or from
the state Rio Grande Do Sul here in Brazil. But he lived in São Paulo. He was
baptized when he was 16. He will be a great companion. Haha it was really hard
to do the switch. Elder Rudy hardly wasn´t speaking much Portugués but with
Elder valença that´s all we speak. So i had to mentally switch hard core.
The
city is super cool. We live in an apartment building in the center of the city
and so it is way different than Poções. The exact opposite. Eunápolis isn´t
huge, but it is a lot bigger than what i have been used to. I am loving it.
However,
as in many places in Bahia we have our church meetings in a house. So we don´t
have a chapel for real, but the house is really sick. It has a big old garden
in front and is super cool. We hold sacrament meeting in the ´backyard´ kind of
outside but also under a covered area. It is just really cool.
We had a good week. We are teaching some good people. It is interesting how each person has their own difficulty. One woman we had to bring to church by car (a member´s car), because she broke her femur a while back and has a metal brace thing sticking out of her leg. It´s crazy! But she´s good. We are also teaching a guy named Jenilson who went to church.
I
am just so excited to be here and i just have fallen in love with this city!
It´s soooo cool. haha really excited. We are working in a bairro called Pequi,
and it reminds me so much of Itabuna. So i have weird moments. Just to try to
give you an idea. I am in more tropical rainforest ish area now. Like those
classic palm trees and coconut trees. Poções was way up in altitude and was
more like fields. Itabuna is actually some 3 or 4 hours from here and so there
are times where i look at a road, with all the growth on it, the smell of
humidity, crazy cement houses and all, and i just remember when i got here to
Brazil.
I
don´t even think about that sort of thing, for a long time. I don´t remember
that i am out of my own country. Haha i don´t remember what it is like there.
But i am glad to be closer to the ocean and jungle again. haha ´jungle´ that
is.
Well
i´m not sure there is much more to say! At the end of this transfer is will
almost be Christmas! Yay natal!
I love you guys! Keep at it!
