The retention rate in Brazil is bad.
But i think the retention rate in almost all places is bad! haha it should be
up so high. Like it is a fight to baptize these people, it is a fight that only
they can fight to remain active. Sometimes it doesn´t matter how many visits
you make, or scriptures you read. Some part of the path they walk alone. It is
like those cool analogies. They have to walk parts of the path with only
Christ´s help. His hand is extended, and they can have his help if they reach
for it.
Here in eunápolis a lot of the
recent converts strengthen each other. There are a lot of teenage recent
converts and they all go to seminary together and all hang out together. It is
really good. One of the youth is leaving for a mission soon and the other young
man talk leave with us a lot and talk about leaving for their missions. It is really
special. Haha I love this branch.
I think it will be really strange
for me to return home one day in 4 years. Haha i have spent the last year of my
mission in weak branches of the church in the boondocks of my mission. It
really is a unique experience and i have learned so much about how the church
works. Haha the missionaries are like 2 general authorities went sent out to
these isolated branches. Haha 2 Melchizedek Priesthood holders.
Here in eunápolis we have some good 3 or 4 Melchizedek priesthood holders. The branch president is very awesome, but he is the only one with real experience. I don´t know if you remember, but President Uchtdorf gave a talk about this in a recent general conference in the priesthood session. He talked about whether your ward is a blue angels jet or if your branch is a little piper plane.
We had an emergency transfer and we
lost one of the elders in eunápolis. So we are in a trio. The mission is
hurting for new missionaries cause a couple went home early. It is too bad. But
we´ll make it.
This week should be exciting.
President Andrezzo is coming to our branch conference Sunday and will give a
fireside Saturday night. He is the man.
